The Precious Stone of Jerusalem

(Psalms 122: 6) “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee.”

 

The stones of the Kotel, the Western Wall, that once supported the Holy Temple, witnessed the history of Jerusalem and Israel over thousands of years and fell in terrible days of blood, fire and exile. But these walls endured and are still standing, waiting for new hands to rebuild. As it is written: 

 

(Isaiah 2: 3-4) And it shall be Heard: “And He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

 

After having been scattered among the nations, the Jews have returned to Israel. The land that was renamed Palestine by the Romans after 70 CE was reborn in 1948 and restored to its original name, Israel. The Bible predicts that God will help the Jews fight against those who would seek to destroy them in a last great war, culminating in the erection of the Holy Temple and the coming of the Mashiach, who will establish a reign of peace through the House of the Lord in Zion.

 

(Isaiah 62: 1) “For Zion’s sake will I not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her triumph go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a torch that burneth.”
