Seas of Israel:
The Sea of Galilee, known in Hebrew as the Kinneret, is the largest freshwater lake in Israel. Located in Israel’s northeast near the Golan Heights.
The Dead Sea known in Hebrew as the Yam Hamelach, meaning “Sea of Salt”, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel to the west. The salinity of the water makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish, hence its name.

The Mediterranean Sea borders Israel’s west coast. It is referred to in the Bible as the Yam Hagadol, meaning the “Great Sea.”
