The shofar (ram’s horn) has deep meaning in Judaism, in terms of biblical history and religious practice. It was sounded at Mount Sinai when the Jews received the Torah directly from God. When the Holy Temple stood, the shofar was blasted on special occasions such as holidays and to announce the Jubilee year. The shofar was commonly taken out to war as a call to battle. Judaism teaches that the shofar will be sounded to herald the coming of the Messiah.
Because shofars are a natural product, no two shofars are alike. While most ram’s horn shofars are light in color, some are dark or even multi-colored. Expect variations in the coloring and exact size and shape.
Each shofar horn is kosher certified and made in Israel.
